Haiku’s for Ogham Trees

November	Birch

A walk too far
Catch breath, Lie down, dissolve
Chilled to the bone.

December Rowan

Two women, five dogs
Frozen fauna, me unseen
In midwinter darkness.

January Alder

Downstream, under bridges
What and who is with you now
Different forces of water.

February Willow

My willow girl
had the safe harbour of me
Bending in force ten gales.

March Ash

Spider, small and young
A willing suspension of disbelief
Spinning infinity.

Gorse

Tick, Tick Tick, stab, stab
I thank Gorse for her compliance
Wren protects its nest.

April Yew

Swallows zig zag zing
Union Jack in the holt of aish
Wild garlic eases sorrow.

April Blackthorn

Sky blue, flowers white,
black rod at parliament’s door
Crown of thorns, judgment.

April Hawthorn

Heart medicine
First love fallen has shadows
White track of the heart.

May Oak

Acorn of poetry
Dorothy, Sam, Symbiosis
Alchemic gold.

June Broom

Ahhh, there you are future
A clean sweep, time to move
What do you walk towards?

June Holly

Wild king-spirit release
Meet ourselves through others
Repel lightning strike.

June Aspen

Burnt by sunshine
Whispering, trembling
Cold feet in water.

July Hazel

Hot breath of embers
Mercurial roots stir like
sleeping silver snakes

August Apple

Single Cawing crow
Pink blossom falls through this story
Aeroplane rumbles north.

August Vine

Unite, interlink
Life’s interdependence
Dark fruits of harvest.

September Ivy

Fierce binding
Suffocated never forgotten
Wandering of the soul.

Heather

Bees, honey, wisdom
at my feet, inspired to do
what seems right to uphold.

October Elder

Old crone of the woods
Pee shooter, fire blower
Regeneration.

November Fir

Two tone green stands tall
In the heart of the forest
Reeds weave circular events.
